What are the TruthTown Polices?

  1. This site is under construction! We are in the process of developing policies that will enable us to communicate freely with minimal restrictions. We expect people to practice civil discourse.
  2. For now, postings deemed ?over the top? by the the site administrators will be deleted.
  3. Copying of entire articles is prohibited; instead please link to articles. Quoting extensively with the use of the blockquote tag is allowed. Small quotes with either the blockquote tag or quotation marks are encouraged.
  4. We strongly encourage linking to sites where users can see content without being charged. Several free sites that republish articles are Truthout, Common Dreams, and Alter Net.
  5. We appreciate your cooperation as we work to develop guidelines that will be helpful to the residents of Truth Town.

Why does the footer say "Posters are responsible for the content of their posts. TruthTown management reserves © on all material posted on TruthTown?"

TruthTown management wants it clearly understood that each person who posts a comment or article is responsible for the factual content of the comment or article. We do not have fact checkers to verify if the content of any post is correct.

Articles and comments are posted on this site so they may be read by others as part of a dialogue. Since the site dynamically generates pages "on the fly" from a database, we want to be absolutely clear that we have the right to generate pages on demand. Each time a page is generated it may be different than the time before. Because our mission is to facilitate dialogue, we expect material to be published many times in different forms. We are being very careful to make certain we have the right to do this.

Our responsibility/ownership policy is consistent with the way many professional organizations publish material: They own the copyright; the author is responsible for the content.
