World Population Management - The Unspoken Issue

One of the forces behind many of the problems the US faces is the ever growing population in the world. Take for example global warming. Let's say we reduce the impact of each person in the world by 1%, but there are 10% more people by the time this is accomplished, the battle is still lost.

Part of the rise of fundamentalist Islam can be traced to a frustration of a lack of resources due to an ever growing population. The "immigration" problem is in part fueled by population pressures. Many of the world's problems are directly or indirectly related to lack of population management.

Our candidates don't speak about the problem. Our news media does not address the problem. Sixty million more in California by 2050 is the headline, yet no one sees this is inevitable unless we manage the source. Abstinence doesn't only makes the problem worse, because most people who try don't have the will power.

My YouTube question (I won't demean myself to make a video with poor production values) is simple, What do you propose to do in your first term as president to reduce the world's ever growing population?

The type of answer I would look for would include:
  • The right of every woman to manage her own body with help, not interference from the state.
  • Sex education including many things people just didn't talk about 30 years ago; including the fact that sex is fun. But it should also discuss the feelings of power and control that are a part of sex.
  • Access to free birth control information, tools, medicines, devices what have you.
  • A $100,000 bonus to each man or woman who has a vasectomy or their tubes tied to be repaid if the operation is reversed. Of course men and women should have the option of having the operation done free without the bonus in which case no fee for reversal is incurred.
  • Education for men and women; but particularly women. Society can afford more dumb men than women. That is just a fact of life.

apparent;ly also (#1) by leftistnow,

there's a negative correlation between protein and number of kids, such that in areas with hunger (Africa) if you find a way to feed these people, their birthrates will go down (I saw this on a Eugene Weber program: The Western Tradion)...  I agree about having women supported by their government for making sound choices about their own reproductive lives...
It's complicated isn't it....  the better science and medicine, the more people that can survive on this planet.  The better our technology, the more comfortable we all are, but the planet sees global warming. Sometimes I think that it's not only wars and evil which will lead to our destruction, but the tools we've developed over the decades and centuries to improve our lives on Earth, which in turn have lead (and will lead to more) over-population and global warming....
